Potatoes. Why do we love them? They are pretty much tasteless and spongy. Yet Americans love potatoes, Japanese love potatoes, Mexicans love potatoes. We all love these starchy little rock-looking things that hide in the ground. Maybe because they are versatile. These vegetables, when prepared are often stripped of any nutrients and are fried, baked, mashed and salted to take on whatever flavor they are cooked in. I love potatoes.
But you know what I love even more than eating potatoes? Putting them on my face. Yup, you heard me correctly. I smeared potato all over my face. You wouldn’t know it from the bad reputation potatoes have for your diet but they are actually very good for you skin.
Benefits of using a regular potato on your face and skin:
- Brighter complexion
- Tighten pores
- Smooth off skin cells
- Natural
- Aids in anti-aging battle – fine lines, wrinkles and sagging
They can’t put anything on the internet that isn’t true.
The hardest part about using a potato for your skin is the process of grinding it up. I shredded my potato down and used the mash as a facial mask. It was pretty messy considering it didn’t harden and there were clumps on the brink of falling off of my face.
Process:
- Peel skin off potato
- grate potato into fine strings
- blend/mash potatoes until smooshy
- apply onto face
- leave on for 15 minutes
- rinse with warm water
- save potato water for after-treatment
- apply potato water and massage into skin
- rinse
- pat dry
- apply anti aging serum and moisturize
The only reason I even attempted to turn a potato into a facial mask was because my mom had already peeled on for the clam chowder she was making and she didn’t end up using it. My father wanted to throw it away, but I told him I could make myself beautiful with it. Next thing you know I making a mess in our bathroom and clogging up the sink with potato mash. Never doubt what the items in your fridge can do for you face and your beauty regimen.
**Another good use: reducing puffing around your eyes. It works better than cucumbers because there are more nutrients in it and if you refrigerate them, they stay cooler longer. **

I’m so going to try that, thanks!
It is really interesting to see the random things around the house that we don’t utilize and just throw away.
