I am no professional photographer, not at all. I don’t claim to be able to make you look 30 lbs thinner, I can’t direct you like you are a model to take good pictures. But if you ask me to capture a moment with my camera, I will put the effort into it to make sure you get a good picture, after all that is what I would hope people would do for me.
Being in a Sorority (Delta Zeta) there are 101 moments for photo opportunities, so I try and bring my camera so I can take pictures of it. But nothing is worst then 20 girls asking you to take 10 pictures of you and their friends and then when it comes to them taking pictures of you….THEY SUCK.
BigLittle reveal was yesterday and I have to retake all of my pictures because most of them are…well…..horrible.
It should be a rule, that if you are in a sorority you should be able to take flattering pictures of others. PERIOD.
2 VERY basic rules that anyone can abide by:
- NO NEGATIVE SPACE. unless it is a scenery shot, I don’t need miles of ceiling, sky or forest above or behind me.
- KNOW YOUR ANGLES! if you subjects are standing and you are sitting on a couch to take a picture for them…then put the camera down. A lower angle then the subject is unflattering and offer highlights rolls, double chins and nostrils. ALWAYS BE AT EYE LEVEL OR SLIGHTLY HIGHER. never lower.

bad angle. never take a picture below eye level unless its some kind of artsy modeling picture where you are trying to capture a specific angle for it….
Now I can not remember who took pictures for me, but if you did any of these I am not calling you or trying to say you fail at life. Just in the future, before someone asks you to take a picture for them, think to yourself: “Is this picture FB profile worthy?” or “Would I want my picture taken like this?”
if the answer is No….Then fix the problem.
Lets look forward to a future of fitted, well angled pictures shall we?

lol. this is funny.

And I agree with all that unnecessary space around the subject(s). It’s one of my pet peeves. Focus on the point, not the walls or the ceiling! Waz up with that?
Looking down is my pet peeve of photos! Nice post

this is funny but very helpful!
my photography teacher always says… get down and dirty. but I guess there’s a difference between regular photos and gritty journalism shots
Great post, sometimes I have to literally hold my hands out so the person taking the picture can frame me correctly!
